Why I'm okay with March being a Quiet Sales Month
Full transparency here, March was a quiet sales month for me. But that doesn't mean I haven't been busy. I do all of my hardworking first, behind closed doors. Once an item is live on my website (even if its personalised), 90% of the work is already complete.
I reduced international delivery costs for smaller orders
I have repriced my shipping to be more specific to the size of the order. shipping to Hong Kong is always going to be expensive however I have reduced the shipping cost for small (A4 size specifically) orders by 50%. You can find the exact costs on my FAQ page.
I don't depend on the income from my business
I work full time, and have a steady salary coming in every month. The profits from my business are almost all reinvested, so I'm not devastated that this month I haven't made as many sales as last month.
I sent out my first commission contract
I am in great talks with doing my first Hong Kong based commission, Naturally these bespoke projects are at a higher price point than my prints. I am so excited to get started, and it will be a healthy injection into my business earnings, and great for my portfolio.. (when it comes in!)! You can enquire about commission work here.
I am in talks with wholesalers
I am currently in conversation with a shop in Hong Kong, a local welsh shop and a shop in London about stocking my work. I am so excited to see my work in any shop, let alone 3. All of my marketing is through social media, so I am really looking forward to seeing what a physical space in a shop will do to extend my audience. There are many different things to iron out when it comes to contracts, and it looks like I will have a different arrangement with each premise.
I designed a new line
This is a big one for me as I haven't designed a new range since last year. My Hong Kong prints have been doing so well, I have chosen to focus my attentions on this range rather than create new themes. Although the artwork isn't for sale just yet, my new range, South Wales, is taking shape and I am allowing people to register interest in the launch of this new line of illustrations.
I extended current ranges
I have developed new illustrations for some of my ranges, including a family tree illustration, and an abstract print for my Hong Kong range. There are also new free phone wallpaper prints to download in my freebees section for you to keep.
I have used March to refocus my efforts, and it has forced me to take a step back and look at my business as a whole. I am happy to be patient and now that a lot of my leads are collaborations, to work at other people's pace. I am very excited to see what the next few months have in store for Aniris Design!
